Terjadi di Backeberg, Stockholm, 1982, Oskar yang berusia 12 tahun ini dipenuhi rasa dendam akibat penganiayaan yang diterimanya. Dia jatuh cinta pada Eli yang sepanjang hidupnya tak bisa terkena sinar matahari.
