What is SCREAMFEST? What is Fantastic Films?
Screamfest is a film festival, event & parties specifically designed for movie fans that are into genre/fantastic films. While, fantastic films are terms known for genre movies such as horror, thriller, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, martial art and cult films.
You might asked why organize such festival. Well, we thought we just wanna scare the s*** out of you. No, seriously. Why not? It is time to have a pure out and out “fun” festival for the genre fans out there. The horror film industry, especially in Indonesia, has been getting such a bad rapport and constantly associated with crappy B movies, that it is time to straighten things up.
Let’s see. Name some of the greatest filmmakers of our time and you would probably list down a few familiar names, such as Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, and many more. Do you know that most of these directors made their name in the industry making horror films. Peter Jackson first few features were all gory horror films, Steven Spielberg directorial debut was DUEL, a film about a psychothic truck driver. Francis Ford Coppola made Dementia 13, George Lucas and his worldwide known sci-fi fantasy Star Wars series, James Cameron had Piranha 2 in his resume, even the legendary late Stanley Kubrick had dealt with Stephen King material in The Shining.
The point is, it takes talents and passion the same amount as making an Academy Award worthy films to produce a good horror film. We have high hopes that this festival can prove that point. Showcasing a variety of genre horror had in store. Some will be world-class genre productions, lots of well made foreign horror films, and bunch of pure fun B movies. Yeah, we’re proud of that as well. Hey, if not for that trashy movies, Quentin Tarantino won’t be as genius as he is now, don’t you think?
By the way, SCREAMFEST INDO 2007 is the first Indonesia International Fantastic Film Festival. It is also the only fantastic film festival in South East Asia, followed only by Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in Korea. This is the first horror/thriller/sci-fi/fantasy/anime film festival in Indonesia where all the genre fans can indulge their passion over movies. From 23rd November – 2 December 2007, SCREAMFEST will be a meeting place for genre fans and all movie lovers.
The festival showcases more than 25 fantastic films from all over the world, with some directors attending and presenting the screening of their films. There will Movie Workshop, where fans can learnt more from the horror experts on how to make a good quality horror/genre films. Costume & Make up Party will also be a perfect event to show the “geek inside you”. Just show up wih the freakiest costume and make up and you might win prizes! Free make up also available from MAC at the venue”.
You will be obligated to scream, clap, boo and yell all you want in the cinema theatre. After all, it’s why we called it SCREAMFEST!

Screamfest adalah sebuah festival yang khusus dirancang untuk pecinta film yang menyukai film-film yang bergenre fantastik.
Nah, fantastic films adalah film-film yang bertemakan horror, thriller, sci-fi, epic fantasy, martial arts dan film-film cult.
SCREAMFEST INDO 2007 adalah Film Festival International pertama di Indonesia. Dan juga merupakan satu-satunya festival film fantastic di Asia Tenggara, setelah Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival di Korea.
Ini adalah festival film horror/thriller/sci-fi/fantasy/anime pertama di Indonesia dimana para pecinta genre tersebut bisa menunjukan obsesi mereka terhadap film-film.
Dari tanggal 23 November sampai 2 Desember 2007, SCREAMFEST akan menjadi tempat berkumpulnya para pecinta genre dan semua pecinta film.Festival ini akan mempertunjukan lebih dari 25 film-film bergenre fantastik dari seluruh penjuru dunia, dengan dihadiri beberapa sutradara yang akan mempertunjukan film-film mereka.
Akan diadakan juga Movie Workshop, dimana para fans bisa mempelajari dari para master film horror cara-cara membuat film horror/fantastik yang bagus dan berkualitas.
Costume & Make up Party bakal jadi acara yang pas buat memperlihatkan “kegilaan didalam diri kalian”. Hadiah menarik, hanya buat yang datang memakai kostum & dandanan terseram atau terseru. Terserah mau jadi apa, mulai dari Darth Vader, Gandalf sampai Sundel Bolong. Make up gratis disediakan oleh MAC di tempat.
Inilah festival di mana penonton diperbolehkan untuk menjerit, bertepuk tangan, dan berteriak semaunya. Ini adalah festival untuk semua pecinta genre fantastic di luar sana. Ini adalah SCREAMFEST!
